The Opportunity
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst - Operations at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring approximately 20% of time to be spent onsite or traveling to Princeton for work-related purposes. The remaining 80% of responsibilities may be completed remotely, providing flexibility while ensuring essential in-person or travel commitments are met.

Process Specialist (Digital Systems & Optimization)
Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
As a Process Specialist (Digital Systems & Optimization), reporting to the Mill Manager, you will be an integral team member of the mill department providing technical expertise and optimization support, focusing on the plant's digital systems.
This will involve an active role in system configuration, data analysis, troubleshooting, optimization projects, developing digital operational readiness programs, and ensuring the effective use of platforms like DOMO, Pi Vision, and SCADA to achieve established KPI’s. This is an exciting opportunity to drive process optimization through digital transformation and data utilization.
Responsibilities
System Management & Data Utilization:
- Manage and configure plant digital systems, including Pi Vision, SCADA, Mill Slicer, Expert systems, Advanced Process Control, and Process Historian platforms.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools (e.g., DOMO) to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and support operational decision-making.
- Perform advanced data analysis using analytical/statistical tools to identify opportunities for process optimization and resolve operational issues.
- Work with Mill Superintendents and DCS control to audit digital systems and make improvements to the quality and effectiveness of the controls.
Process Improvement & Technical Support:
- Provide expert support to Metallurgy and Mill Operations teams in troubleshooting technical challenges related to system integration and process data.
- Support trials, pilot plants, and commissioning of new processing equipment by integrating them into the plant's data and control systems.
- Develop technical requirements and support operational readiness programs for system upgrades or new digital tools.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Act as the strong communicator and bridge between technical teams (IT/Engineering/DCS/HudbayTechnical) and operational users regarding digital systems.
- Actively participate in cross-functional opportunities to support Engineer-in-Training (EIT) development, focusing on process data and systems.
- Supervise and support junior members of the team on digital system use and data analysis.
Safety & Compliance:
- Actively participate in all Environmental, Health and Safety aspects of the mine, ensuring digital systems support safety protocols.
- Develop and support safety protocols, thereby ensuring that the safety of people and the environment is paramount.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- >5 years experience in a technical or engineering role, with significant focus on industrial process control systems, data platforms, or business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated experience with process data systems (e.g., Pi System, SCADA) and data visualization/BI tools (e.g., DOMO, Power BI, Tableau) is essential.
- Experience in Project Management or Commissioning preferred
Required Skills
- Strong working knowledge of process control principles, engineering analysis, and exposure in using analytical/statistical tools.
- Proven ability to research, analyze information, draw conclusions, and take action to resolve operational and system-related problems.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multitasking, and effective time management.
- Collaborative, hands-on approach.
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, hands-on approach
- Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership skills are an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license,
- Must pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing
- Must be able to pass physical exam and don respiratory protection.
Working Conditions
- Work involves a set work schedule, Monday to Friday,
- Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
- Work includes working near others with a high degree of social interaction,
- Role may operate in a potentially stressful environment caused by constant requests from several people causing uncertainty and ambiguity,
- Exposure to dust and temperature fluctuations,
- Occasional exposure to fluctuations in sounds, noise, vibration levels,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Rate of Pay
$115K - $130K / annum.
