Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Purpose
Working and assist geotechnical engineering supervisor in geotechnical field controls and hazard identification. Conduct daily inspection and communicate with Engineers and Mine Operations for any hazard and assist mitigation controls. Ensure geotechnical slope monitoring instruments work and operates properly and data collection was conducted on timely manner.
Essential Duties
- Support geotechnical engineers and/or supervisor in geotechnical field controls and hazard identification.
- Ability to communicate geotechnical control and hazard identification to stakeholder
- Ability to identify geotechnical hazards and report to supervisor and act upon it
- Ability to conduct geotechnical mapping and geotechnical logging
- Competency to operate geotechnical monitoring instrumentation and geotechnical instrumentation software
- Basic competency to operate geotechnical specialized software and geotechnical analysis software
- Basic knowledge of mine design software such as Maptek Vulcan
- Ability to generate and present daily and weekly monitoring data
- Ability to coordinate with stakeholders (Mine Ops, Mine Maintenance, Project, etc).
- Coordinate monitoring equipment maintenance.
- Have an basic understanding of open pit geotechnical engineering principles such as rock mass characterization, geological structures, material strengths, geotechnical block model, surveying, drill and blast, pit slope design and analyses
Training & Experience
- B.S degree in Mine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or in related filed. Preferred to have one year experience of internship in mining industry.
- Minimum 2-4 years of practical experience in Open Pit Mining or related field
