About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. Who we are looking for:
Are you passionate about technology and fascinated by the world of mining and minerals? Do you have a knack for automation and a desire to contribute to the advancement of technology within the mining industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Mine Technology Technician at Cadia.
In this role, you will support the deployment, optimisation, and maintenance of advanced mining technology systems across our underground and surface operations. Your work will directly improve safety, productivity, and efficiency by reducing manual interaction, enhancing data and control systems, and contributing to the mine of the future.
You will work closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to monitor system performance, diagnose issues, implement improvements, and ensure technology reliability across site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support delivery of technology solutions designed to remove personnel from hazards and reduce exposure through automation and innovative engineering controls.
- Maintain the interconnected components, networks, and systems used to convert, record, transport, or control mining processes, equipment, and information.
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance across underground and surface technology systems.
- Promote and contribute to a strong safety culture within the Mine Technology Team.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders to ensure technology systems meet operational needs.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance, reliability, and compliance across the mining technology fleet.
You will also have training, knowledge and experience in:
Essential
- Electrical or Auto-Electrical or Communications trade qualification
- Experience with mining technology, fixed and on-board infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of safety management practices and working within mining environments
- Experience working with industrial communications, IP networks & Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Stakeholder engagement and ability to work cross-functionally
Desirable
- Underground and surface automation systems
- DMR Radio Communications (Tait, Omnitonics )
- WLAN/LAN networking and fault-finding, including Fibre Optics
- Functional Safety exposure
- Experience with mine technology applications (e.g., proximity detection, fleet systems, telemetry networks)
Please note: This is a permanent full-time residential role (no FIFO/DIDO) at our Cadia mine site, on a 7D/7X/7N/7X roster.
