Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

Job Description
To provide complex technical support to mine production. To follow established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments. To provide work direction to employees responsible for transporting ore and waste. To schedule and ensure availability of staff to meet production goals. To develop mine production assignments.
Job Responsibilities
• Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all mine production activities
• Answers queries and handles requests related to mine production, which requires problem solving and judgment
• Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to mine production, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches
• Escalates issues requiring knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions. Works with a mentor as needed
• Assigns crews and equipment to specific tasks in order to meet daily mine production goals
• Addresses queries and resolves issues for internal customers, while ensuring service standards are met
• Ensures internal compliance with company policy and procedures and regulations in mine production
• Provides work direction to personnel responsible for transporting ore and waste
• Handle and/or assist in activities related to coordinating health and safety programs
• Analyzes and interprets information related to compliance with health and safety regulations
• Responds to a variety of internal and/or external requests related to employee health and safety
• Prepares required documents for the department, such as training documents, communications, and reports on safety incidents
Education and Experience
Education
• College or technical training equivalent to 3 years of study in mining related area preferred, or three years of heavy equipment operating experience in a mining or construction environment.
Experience
• More than 10 years of related work experience preferably in mining industry
- Drill & Shovel Mechanic experience required
Skills
• Highly effective planning skills geared at reducing inefficiencies and maximizing safety
• Must be able to adapt to constant shift changes
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all crew members and all levels of management in a clear and concise manner
Reporting Relationships
• Serves as a resource to other members of the technical work unit
• Typically reports into the Mine Superintendent
