Job Description
Although our production and financial results are the engine that drives our business, it is the depth of capability in our people that will continue to determine First Quantum’s ongoing success. Reporting to the Logistics Operations Lead of our Trading Logistics division, this role will coordinate the efficient, accurate and timely movement of material from the mine to various warehouses. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring stock levels, processing invoices and coordinating with all stakeholders involved in dispatch, transportation, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
The Logistics Operations Coordinator’s general accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the below:
Stock Control
Monitor dispatch of material from the mine & Ndola in Zambia.
Upload dispatch records onto Mineman (internal system).
Continuously monitor the movement of materials by tracking their location and following up if trucks are delayed.
Liaise with the warehouse upon truck arrival and verify arrival weights, noting any losses or gains.
Conduct the appointment of inspectorate companies for sampling and analysis of material (only where applicable).
Distribute Mine Packing Lists to relevant warehouses 3 times a week.
Monitor arrival of material at warehouses.
Upload arrival records onto Mineman.
Approve weekly holding certificates from each warehouse by bank and grade of material.
Monitor stock levels for upcoming shipments.
Payments - Invoices
Check off and approve service provider invoices.
Process transporters’ invoices twice a month for payment & load onto Mineman.
Process FOB invoices once a month & load onto Mineman.
Transport
Liaise with the mine & transporters regarding uplifts from the mine site.
Liaise with forwarders (our warehouses).
Follow up with transporters on security procedures.
Monitor transport rates.
Hijacking – follow procedures on reporting hijack; deal with transporter, mine (if necessary) & private investigators.
Capture breakdowns on a spreadsheet, ensuring breakdown procedures are followed, and monitoring resolutions.
Qualifications:
Experience & Technical Skills Required:
3+ years’ experience in logistics coordination or management
Strong knowledge of inventory management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel
Proficiency in logistics software
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
Other Requirements:
Candidates must have the right to work in the applicable region without visa sponsorship
Mobile. Willingness to work and travel across FQM’s operations and locations worldwide
Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages highly regarded
