The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Geoscientist, Mineral Inventory to join our Exploration team in Toronto .
This is a permanent Hybrid position.
Please note that this position can be based in Ontario, New Foundland, Manitoba or Brazil.
As a
Geoscientist, Mineral Inventory , you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and documenting the Mineral Inventories for our projects and operations. These inventories will capture the potential mineralization and allow for further analysis and prioritization of our exploration projects. This position requires a high level of collaboration with internal stakeholders and outside consultants. In addition to this work, they will also be responsible for varied exploration assignments requiring full knowledge of one field of geoscience and reasonable knowledge of the interaction with others to plan and execute tasks of significant complexity and variability.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Lead Mineral Inventory Range Analysis (MIRA) projects, including geological modelling using integrated datasets to develop a comprehensive Common Earth model.
- Interpret key mineralizing processes related to the formation of base ‑ metal deposits and apply this understanding to project work.
- Engage, coordinate, and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure geological and engineering datasets remain accurate and up to date.
- Prepare and maintain documents, models, and materials required to support the MIRA workflow and associated workshops.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary technical groups to deliver MIRA results and support integration into the broader Resource Development Plan.
- Apply fundamental knowledge of economic parameters used in the evaluation of mineral exploration projects.
- Organize, maintain, and update geological databases in alignment with company standards.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and related documentation.
- Maintain and develop new content, structures, and workflows within the Exploration SharePoint environment.
- Assist in designing, building, and managing Leapfrog Central projects and workflows.
- Support the creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards (e.g., Global Significant Assay Tracker, Geophysics Weekly Report, Invoice Approval dashboards).
- Provide support in geological modelling and contribute to innovation projects or other geological initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with external contractors and consultants to support exploration and data initiatives.
- Identify exploration targets, evaluate results, and recommend appropriate actions as exploration evolves.
- Propose and develop new methods, models, and technical advancements to improve exploration success.
- Generate new exploration targets and contribute technical insights to project teams.
- Ensure technical standards and QA/QC procedures are consistently met and upheld.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and training to junior geological and technical staff.
- Ensure work is planned and executed in accordance with Vale’s health, safety, environmental, and community standards and complies with all applicable local laws.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline is required,
Experience:
- 11-15 years of experience in the field
Skills:
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience of 3D modelling, and other relevant mining software packages (e.g. Leapfrog, Datamine, ArcGIS, Geoscience Analyst) .
- Knowledge of Exploration strategy, technology and methodology.
- Understanding of database structure: organizing and maintaining a database according to company standards
- Good initiative, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to effectively interact with project stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds.
- Providing technical mentoring and training opportunities to junior professional and technical staff
- Open minded and encourage knowledge sharing within the team
