The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Project Analyst to join our Finance team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers.
The
Project Analyst will support Project Management through comprehensive project analysis across the lifecycle of capital, decommissioning, operating, and PMP projects. This role is responsible for developing baseline performance metrics to align scope, schedule, and cost with business plans, while tracking progress, reporting performance, and recommending mitigation strategies for deviations. The incumbent will oversee control requirements related to business planning, procurement, finance directives, auditing, and contractor compliance, as well as maintain the 5-year capital plan, establish and monitor contractor KPIs, generate performance reports, assist with cost estimates, and ensure compliance during project approvals and financial audits.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Manage project documentation, compliance, and control requirements across Opex, Capex, and PMP projects, ensuring alignment with business processes and standards.
- Maintain and track the 5-year capital plan, including budget approvals, P-sheets, and financial submissions, while supporting project forecasting and cost estimates.
- Establish and monitor contractor KPIs for schedule, quality, and cost; generate performance reports and present findings to stakeholders for transparency and alignment.
- Support procurement processes, RFPs, and contract administration, ensuring adherence to budgets and compliance with company guidelines.
- Oversee financial processes including AFE submissions, WBS setup, capitalization, variance reporting, and audit preparation, act as primary contact during internal audits.
- Perform project closeout activities, including documentation, SAP requirements, releasing holdbacks, and legal compliance, while providing expert guidance on project lifecycle and contractor processes.

About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration (or Equivalent), Engineering Technologist Diploma (Mining, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical) with relevant business/project experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset.
Experience:
- 3-4 Years' experience in one, or more of the following: Project Controls, Business Planning, Project Construction, Contract Administration or relevant technical experience.
Skills:
- Knowledge of Estimating databases and engineering applications and standards.
- Advanced software skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience using large company ERP systems such as SAP (Project Manual), Microsoft Project.
