Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Environmental, Health and Safety Superintendent, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will act as the Geotechnical Engineering Technical Advisor and respond to tasks related to water management infrastructure, Tailings Impoundment Area (TIA), storage pads, drainage infrastructure, waste rock storage facilities, dams, gravel airstrip inspection, etc. The role will focus on construction (including design inputs) and operation and maintenance of the structures. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Support waste and water management infrastructure construction by acting as the owner/representative and by maintaining records of construction;
- Conduct geotechnical investigations, and support planning for the construction of water and tailings management infrastructure;
- Update, implement and own Operation, Maintenance & Surveillance manuals for TIA, water management infrastructures, airstrip inspections, waste rock storage facilities, roads, drainage infrastructure;
- Liaise with the design engineering firm for maintenance and operation of the facilities
- Review instrumentation and field data as it relates to Operation, Maintenance & Surveillance manuals;
- Collect, compile and analyze data to monitor dykes and guarantee integrity by managing geotechnical investigations and instrumentation programs;
- Conduct various stability analyses internally, or in collaboration with consultants;
- Monitor geotechnical and environmental performance of facilities;
- Monitor, compile and review data to ensure compliance with the Tailings deposition plan;
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of projects;
- Plan, coordinate, review and inspect dykes in accordance with AEM standards and other legal requirements;
- Plan, coordinate and lead Independent Review Board (IRB) meetings for critical infrastructure reviews.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical, Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering;
- Master’s Degree is considered an asset;
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in the mining field;
- P.Eng designation is considered an asset;
- Experience in the design, construction and operations of mining dams/dikes or Waste Rock Storage facilities is considered an asset;
- Experience in a permafrost environment is considered an asset;
- Excellent safety habits, be safety-conscious and display safe work practices.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
