Job Description
The Assistant Accountant – Shared Services role is responsible is for accurate processing of invoices, reconciliations, payroll inputs, and month-end journals. It plays a key role in maintaining financial records, supporting audit queries, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
The role works closely with the Shared Services Accountant and Management Accountant to ensure timely and accurate financial data and contributes to process improvements and automation initiatives.
This role supports the day-to-day transactional finance operations across DBHB, DBGSS, and Auction Sales.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
- Support resolution of payment queries and disputes
- Assist in managing petty cash and staff claims
- Maintain accurate records for Accounts Payable and Receivable
Cashflow and Treasury Support
- Prepare weekly cashflow reports
- Support Sight and Diamond Purchases treasury processes
- Assist in credit card posting and cash advance reconciliations
- Review payment runs and bank clearing accounts
Month-End Close
- Prepare and post standard journals
- Review and reconcile prepayments and other income accounts
- Support month-end reporting packs and schedules
- Review VAT, WHT, and Training Levy ledgers
Audit and Compliance
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries
- Ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready
- Support internal control reviews and compliance checks
Systems and Process Improvement
- Maintain SAP entries
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
- Support training and documentation of standard operating procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Progress toward a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is advantageous
Experience
- 2–4 years in transactional finance or audit
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
- Exposure to month-end close and reconciliations
Technical Skills
- Strong accounting fundamentals and Excel proficiency
- Familiarity with financial controls and reporting
Soft Skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
