About The Role
We are actively seeking a Lead Engineer, Mine Maintenance to join the Côté Gold Mine Site, reporting to the Chief Engineer, Mine Maintenance the Lead Engineer, Mine Maintenance will be given an overarching role that goes beyond asset reliability terminology. The position will also be accountable for enforcing management of change and as such is expected to provide mechanical engineering oversight. Finally, the Lead Engineer, Mine Maintenance will be in rotation with the Chief Engineer, Mine Maintenance and must ensure continuity of operations in their absence.
This role will be based at our Côté Gold mine site (Gogama, Ontario) on a 14 on, 14 off rotational schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage the engineering, planning, and contract management teams by example, ensuring alignment with company policies and organizational design.
- Performance Management: Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear objectives, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing actionable feedback.
- Team Development: Actively recruit and develop a diverse engineering team, ensuring current and future training requirements are met through clear progression paths.
- Coaching & Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and coaching to team members to instill best practices in all mechanical engineering and planning activities.
- Operational Excellence: Build a dynamic team focused on data analytics, effective communication, and continuous improvement to drive business results.
- Work Environment: Create an inclusive and effective work environment that empowers the team to deliver high-quality results autonomously.
- Production Alignment: Establish clear work expectations and performance levels to ensure the achievement of business plans and production goals.
- Resource Management: Ensure optimal allocation of manpower and materials to achieve departmental objectives within planned budgetary constraints.
Job Qualifications
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Registration (or eligibility to register) as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO).
- A minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a team leader.
Relevant Experience
- Previous experience in large open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of reliability best practices.
- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software (SAP, Oracle, Viziya, Mine Star, Wenco, Mobius, Power BI, Excel, VBA).
- A valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
