Responsibilities / About the Role:
- Provide input for project cost estimates, schedules, and progress reporting.
- Prepare all technical documentation required for project execution.
- Develop data sheets, instrument indexes, and perform instrument sizing in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Perform sizing calculations for flow meters and control valves.
- Develop instrument Material Requisition (MR) packages, perform bid evaluations, and select instruments.
- Design instrument installation details.
- Provide input to the 3D model and participate in model reviews.
- Develop control philosophies and control narratives.
- Generate shutdown keys and cause and effects.
- Designing network architectures and IT systems.
- Review and comment vendor documentation and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Specify, select, configure, and program control systems such as PLCs/DCSs, or other automation system as required.
- Ensure that Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) meet technical requirements and comply with industry, Hatch, and project standards.
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and other process safety related reviews as required.
- Ensure that the design is operable, maintainable and safe according to the applicable local laws and client safety standards.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Control or Electronic Engineering from an accredited University.
- 5+ years project engineering experience. Mining experience is considered asset.
- Experience in instrumentation, control and automation design/consultancy ideally within a similar large engineering or multi-disciplinary project environment.
- Demonstrated “hands-on” site experience and able to work independently.
- PLC/DCS programming experience (Rockwell - preferred, DeltaV and ABB are assets).
- Knowledge and experience with data-centric design systems, e.g. Smart Plant Instrumentation is an asset.
- Good level of English (spoken and written).
