About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

About The Opportunity
Mount Milligan is seeking an
Engineer, Geotechnical to support the safe and effective construction, operation, and monitoring of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) at Mount Milligan. This role ensures geotechnical integrity through site investigations, instrumentation monitoring, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The engineer also contributes to planning and design efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards, supporting the safe and effective tailings facility management, integrating geotechnical monitoring, deposition planning, and water balance coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of tailings dams and related infrastructure per OMS manual.
- Manage and maintain geotechnical instrumentation and databases.
- Scope and oversee geotechnical site investigations.
- Support QA/QC for TSF construction, including material and compaction verification.
- Collaborate with Engineer of Record and Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
- Scope and manage geotechnical investigations at the TSF.
- Monitor site instrumentation and maintain related databases.
- Attend daily and weekly technical meetings to communicate updates and safety concerns.
- Collaborate with other department including Engineering, Geology, and Site Services teams to align priorities.
- Backfill each other’s responsibilities during off-shift rotations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure all field work meets safety standards.
- Maintain awareness of geotechnical risks and communicate them effectively.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in mining or related geotechnical roles.
- Familiarity and proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., MinePlan, LeapFrog, Civil 3D, Muk3D).
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical field investigations, slope stability, and dam surveillance.
- Familiarity with geotechnical structures such as embankment dams and tailings facilities.
- Strong computer skills, including data management and analysis (VBA in Excel is an asset).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the operation.
- Project management and decision-making capabilities.
- Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an EIT or P.Eng..
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Must meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
- Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 14 day on/14 day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
- PPE always required.
- Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
- Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
