About The Role
The Construction Coordinator is a key field leadership position responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of construction projects. This role provides direct oversight of contractor activities, facilitates coordination between operations and project teams, and drives compliance with safety standards and project requirements. The coordinator plays a critical role in planning, logistics, and commissioning. Preference will be given to candidates with an electrical background as the group would benefit from technical expertise to support commissioning and electrical installation.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for HSE compliance; enforce Keep Each Other Safe principles and stop work authority when needed.
- Assist with constructability reviews, commissioning plans, and pre-job meetings.
- Maintain high visibility in the field; monitor safe work practices, PPE use, and compliance with RTK, OSHA/MSHA standards.
- Oversee equipment, material deliveries, site access, scaffolding inspections, and support facilities
- Lead toolbox talks, CMP audits, TRACK and CCC verifications, and Leadership in the Field activities.
- Manage Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and ensure proper use of all required permits.
- Track daily construction activities, complete shift reports, and update project schedules.
- Act as point of contact for HSE reporting; secure incident sites, document findings, and support investigations
- Verify QA/QC procedures during all phases; maintain accurate records and redline documentation.
- Assist with commissioning execution, manage material disposition, archive permits, and capture lessons learned.
About You
To succeed in this role you would need
- A strong safety mindset and adherence to Keep Each Other Safe principles
- Advanced knowledge of construction practices, sequencing, and risk management.
- Preference will be given to candidates with electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning experience
- Familiarity with RTK standards, MSHA/OSHA regulations, SDS requirements.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, understand construction schedules, and apply QA/QC practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Teams.
- Clear, constructive communication; ability to coach and mentor contractors.
- Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively for self and others.
- Confident in leading meetings and safety interactions.

Where you’ll be working
Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, tellurium and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
This position is based at the North End Tailings Facility for Projects and Engineering.
