Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will be a key contributor within the “Cycle Team’’ and play an essential role in the advancement of mine development activities. As a versatile and skilled operator, you will support the progression of the decline by performing mucking, blasting support activities, service installation, and other tasks critical to the development sequence. The Cycle Mining concept with a single face highlights the importance of this role, as you will directly contribute to the continuity, safety, and efficiency of unheated development mining. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Operate Jackleg and Stoper equipment.
- Operate MacLean Scissor Deck platforms for the safe and efficient advancement of mine services.
- Operate MacLean Emulsion Loading units in accordance with established charging and blasting procedures.
- Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure all tools and machinery are maintained in safe working condition.
- Install mine services—including ventilation ducting, water lines, air lines, power cables, and communication systems—according to drawings and engineering specifications.
- Load and blast development rounds following prescribed blasting plans and safety regulations.
- Support the “Cycle Team” by contributing to safe, efficient, and high‑quality development work.
- Assist with tasks related to the decline development cycle to maintain proper sequencing and workflow within a Single‑Face Mining environment.
- Operate other equipment associated with the development category as required and obtain certifications as needed.
- Inspect the working environment daily and report any hazards, deviations, or unsafe conditions according to established procedures.
What You Need To Succeed
- Experience operating jackleg and stoper equipment.
- Experience operating MacLean Scissor Deck platforms for advancing services.
- Experience with MacLean Emulsion Loading units or similar underground emulsion charging systems.
- Relevant exposure to decline cycle mining and development-cycle sequencing.
- High School Diploma.
- Ability to read and understand basic underground mining engineering plans.
- Underground certification or equivalent (Mining Modules, Common Core) is considered an asset.
- Valid Approval Letter under Explosives Regulations or equivalent (Explosives Permit), if required for blasting tasks.
- NAC Certification, DEP in Mineral Extraction, or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Certification on other development equipment Production Haul Truck or Scoops—is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated capability to be trained on new equipment.
Note that the official working language at our Meliadine Mine is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
