Newmont Tanami is located on Aboriginal freehold land approximately 540km northwest of Alice Springs and is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset within a core Newmont region.
The Tanami Expansion 2 (TE2) project is extending mine life beyond 2040 through the development of a hoisting shaft, increasing underground production from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Strong underground exploration results and the successful delivery of the first Tanami Expansion have positioned Tanami as a major contributor to the Newmont global portfolio.
A fully equipped accommodation village is located 40km from site, offering a range of leisure facilities for employees flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
As a Trades Assistant at Newmont Tanami, you’ll support the safe and efficient servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile and ancillary equipment. Working closely with maintenance trades, your contribution will help ensure equipment reliability, safety and production continuity across site.
As part of our team, you will:
- Assist tradespeople and service staff with maintenance and repair activities
- Carry out preventative maintenance and component change-outs as directed
- Conduct visual inspections and identify equipment defects or quality issues
- Maintain accurate records of work completed in line with site requirements
- Ensure workshop tooling and equipment are used safely and returned clean
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in workshop and work areas
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections and continuous improvement activities
- Follow all site safety, environmental and procedural requirements
Prerequisites for your success in this role:
- Proven experience in a trades assistant or similar role
- Exposure to mining, heavy industry or maintenance environments (preferred)
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
- Good communication, organisational and time management skills
- Willingness to learn and participate in training and development
- Physically capable of working in a demanding maintenance environment
- Mask fit ready
- A valid Australian drivers licence
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, an advanced standard of safety, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work underground
Your Work Environment
- FIFO 8 days on / 6 days off roster – Day Shift / Night Shift rotation
- Reside in our fully equipped accommodation village
- Approved point-of-hire locations: Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane
