Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
Are you ready to elevate your career in heavy-duty equipment maintenance? We are seeking experienced Diesel Fitters in both UNDERGROUND AND SURFACE teams to join our Mobile Maintenance team at Newmont Tanami.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality diesel maintenance across a modern underground mobile fleet. Your work will directly support equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and contribute to safe and efficient underground and surface operations.
As part of our team, you will:
- Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing, inspections and breakdown repairs on heavy mobile and light vehicles
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
- Execute maintenance activities in line with site plans, safety standards and OEM requirements
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to achieve site KPIs across safety, availability and reliability
- Demonstrate strong alignment to Newmont values, including safety leadership, ownership and continuous improvement
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members as required
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Australian-recognised Heavy Duty Trade qualification (Certificate III or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ underground mining experience
- Strong experience on Sandvik DD, DL, DS and DB drills (421 & 422 essential)
- Experience with Normet Charmec and Spraymec equipment
- Exposure to Epiroc Easer L (desirable)
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and maintenance systems, including SAP experience
- Dogging, rigging, forklift and working-at-heights tickets (preferred)
- Current Australian manual driver’s licence
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving and communication skills
- A genuine commitment to safety and teamwork
