About The Role
We’re looking for a
Principal Advisor – Remuneration Strategy and Solutions to join our APAC team in
Perth or Brisbane. This role plays a critical part in designing, governing and delivering remuneration solutions that directly support Rio Tinto’s people strategy and business priorities across the Asia‑Pacific region.
You will help shape how Rio Tinto navigates diverse market, regulatory and industrial relations environments, ensuring our remuneration frameworks are competitive, transparent, and aligned to both business needs and global standards.
Reporting to the
Manager, Remuneration Strategy and Solutions APAC, you will
- Lead market benchmarking and remuneration analytics to ensure strong, consistent market positioning.
- Drive annual remuneration review strategy and execution across APAC, ensuring alignment with global Reward governance.
- Provide senior advisory support on remuneration matters across Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Mongolia and India, with additional influence across the broader APAC portfolio.
- Partner with HR and ER/IR teams to support unionisation activity, including data modelling, allowance structures, industrial comparison analysis and remuneration negotiation support.
- Conduct comprehensive market reviews and allowance reviews, assessing competitiveness, regulatory requirements, cost impacts and design recommendations.
- Support global remuneration and reward projects, contributing to design, governance, policy and frameworks as part of a truly global Reward team.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes and industry practices to proactively shape remuneration strategy.
- Build strong relationships across HR, Reward AoE to drive clarity, consistency and capability uplift.
What You’ll Bring

- Hands‑on expertise in benchmarking, job evaluation, remuneration analytics, incentive design and career architecture.
- Demonstrated capability supporting industrial processes such as union negotiations, allowance reviews and market analysis.
- Deep understanding of market practices across Australia, Singapore, Mongolia, India and broader APAC markets.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to lead complex remuneration projects and deliver high‑quality outcomes in dynamic environments.
- Flexibility to operate across time zones and collaborate as part of a truly global Reward team.
- Solid understanding of HR principles, governance and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with HRIS, analytics tools and workforce platforms.
