About the Role
Step into a role where underground surveying meets genuine innovation. At Cowal, you’ll join a future focused team using cutting edge technology - including drones, LiDAR scanners, point cloud modelling and advanced Deswik tools - to reshape how underground surveys are delivered in Australia’s mining industry.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Surveyor, this is a hands on position where you’ll work closely with Operations, Geology and the broader Technical Services team. Your work will span everything from void management, laser installations and deformation monitoring to development mark ups, EOM surveys, data processing and reporting.
You’ll be part of a tight knit survey crew who value collaboration, continual improvement, and smarter ways of working. About You
You’re a motivated underground surveyor - or an ambitious survey technician, who wants to work with the best tools, best tech and a supportive team behind you. You bring a recognised surveying qualification (TAFE, Diploma, or tertiary), and ideally at least a couple of years of underground experience. But above all, you are curious, adaptable, hands on and keen to grow.
Whether you’re confident with point clouds, solids, LiDAR and Deswik, or you’re eager to build those skills, you thrive in environments where innovation is encouraged. You enjoy problem solving underground, take pride in producing accurate survey data, and value working with people who look out for each other - both above and below ground.
You’ll stand out if you:
- Have underground mining or tunnelling experience, ideally with exposure to modern survey instruments and methods.
- Enjoy working with Deswik and are keen to build capability with point cloud modelling and digital survey workflows.
- Like being part of a collaborative team that values safety, learning and continuous improvement.
- Are open to relocating to regional NSW - and for international surveyors, keen to bring your expertise to Australia with support from Evolution.
