About The Role
We are seeking an experienced AHS Control Supervisor to join our PMO Control team, supporting Rio Tinto’s Pilbara operations from our remote Operations Centre near Perth Airport.
This frontline leadership position is responsible for the safe, reliable and coordinated operation of multiple Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) assets across the value chain. You will lead a team of up to 20 Controllers who monitor, coordinate and optimise the haul fleet.
Sitting at the centre of our Pilbara operations, the role involves close collaboration with site operations, maintenance, planning, engineering and scheduling teams to manage system interactions, respond to exceptions and drive consistent performance. Success will require strong control room experience, a solid understanding of AHS and autonomous operating environments, and the ability to lead people in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.
Reporting to the Superintendent PMO Control, you will
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Controllers through clear direction, regular feedback and performance support
- Set and reinforce expectations around safe, disciplined and consistent AHS control room operations
- Coordinate day-to-day control room activities to ensure planned work is executed safely and effectively
- Proactively manage constraints, prioritise work and support debottlenecking across AHS and loadout operations
- Partner with site-based stakeholders to resolve issues, manage risk and maintain alignment across the operation
- Build strong working relationships across Plant, Maintenance, Planning and Mine Ops teams
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to uplift safety, reliability and control effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto standards, procedures and operating disciplines
What You’ll Bring
- Proven leadership experience within AHS operations and/or a control room environment
- Strong people leadership capability with a focus on coaching, capability uplift and team performance
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex, technology-enabled operating systems and interfaces
- Sound understanding of constraints management, system interactions and production bottlenecks
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence across functions
- Ability to remain calm, structured and decisive in high-pressure operational environments
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Current Australian C Class manual driver’s licence

Where you'll be working
Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
