About the role:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Water Operations, the Senior Lead, Water Operations is responsible for providing senior leadership, technical direction, and decision-making support to the existing West Line Creek (WLC) treatment facility, as well as the new WLC and Line Creek Dry Creek RO-HDS facilities. You will lead and mentor a team of water treatment professionals responsible for operating the facilities, managing environmental risks and satisfying regulatory requirements associated with the treatment facilities and projects.
To be successful we are looking for someone with strong technical experience, outstanding critical thinking, and complex problem solving abilities, who can make quick decisions in day-to-day operations. Someone with strong troubleshooting acumen, possessing analytical skills to define problems and the ability to bring people together to find creative solutions is vital for this role. We require someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can lead and mentor a team, and who has experience with conflict resolution. Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to effectively prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment will also be crucial.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Provide support and guidance to the Water Operations team on facility operations, risk identification, risk management, and incident response
- Provide support to the Water Projects and Regulatory Approvals teams through the construction and commissioning phases of projects to manage and mitigate environmental, operational and regulatory risks
- Provide support and guidance to the water operations team through facility startup, leading commissioning meetings, setting priorities and reporting on progress to the senior management team, ensuring alignment with Water Operations objectives and schedule
- Foster a culture of analytical thinking which drive decision making through problem framing, information gathering, and risk evaluation
- Advance work on significant emerging issues to arrive at resolutions to manage and mitigate operational, regulatory and environmental risks
- Supervise and provide mentorship, support, guidance, and development to increase team expertise and drive continuous improvement
- Provide integrity and leadership to foster a culture of teamwork between the Water Operations, Environment, and Water Projects teams
- Own continuous improvement program including project scopes development through effective communication and collaboration with affected groups including safety, process, automation and environment
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Sciences, or other equivalent experience in a relevant subject area would be considered
- Minimum ten years' experience in an industrial setting or large municipal facility, experience in a water or wastewater treatment plant would be an asset
- Minimum five years' experience leading a team
- Demonstrated proficiency in applicable computer process software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite®
- Strong technical writing, presenting, data analysis, and reporting skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
