Job Description
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines in order to provide crucial mechanical decisions and technical strategic data to support Redpath’s projects. This is to enable the implementation of project work in accordance with safety, codes and standards, schedule, quality and cost control
Responsibilities
Health and Safety:
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
General
- Responsible for selection, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization and reliability of hoists, shaft sinking equipment, conveyors, crushers, pumps and mining equipment
- Participates in planning, coordination, procurement, and management of the overall design and engineering process of various projects as related to mechanical requirements
- Provide Estimating assistance for bids by producing drawings, sketches, calculations and equipment selections
- Participate in discussions regarding design and risk management of designs
- Research, propose and implement new technologies and/or processes as appropriate and approved
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures as related to mechanical items
- Travel to sites to inspect, take measurements and/or attend technical discussions as needed
- Provides support to projects, assisting in providing technical solutions as required
- Sign off as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) on mechanical drawings
- Responsible for checking and approval of drawings done by other Engineers, Designers or Engineers-in-Training
- Mentor Engineer-in-Training, Mechanical or less experienced Engineers
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering with P.Eng. license (or equivalent)
Preferred: N/A
Work Experience
Required: 10 years’ post graduate work in a mining environment
Preferred: 15 years’ experience in an engineering environment

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
