About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Safety and Sustainability Expectations
- Maintain strict compliance with workplace safety standards and regulations.
- Ensure shop cleanliness and safety at all times.
- Proactively identify and report safety concerns.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills for record-keeping and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect graders, mining equipment, and light vehicles for performance and faults.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on surface equipment (e.g., loaders, haul trucks, excavators) and light vehicles (e.g., pickups, ATVs).
- Diagnose malfunctions using computerized and manual testing tools.
- Interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics accurately.
- Repair or replace defective components using appropriate tools.
- Test equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
- Complete equipment audits and adhere to inspection checklists (PMs, Pre-Ops, Post-Ops).
- Create work orders, source parts, and maintain accurate documentation independently.
- Enter Time Confirmation in SAP.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements
Education: Secondary school completion required; Journeyman trade certification in a relevant field.
Experience: 5–6 years in heavy equipment repair (mining preferred).
Skills
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency with hydraulic/electrical systems.
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces.
- Own mechanic tools.
- Adaptability to shift work.
