About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an
HR Advisor, Recruitment to join our
Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations team. This is a remote, work-from-home position, with travel to site every few months as required.
The HR Advisor, Recruitment reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for leading the entire talent acquisition process for the Mount Milligan site. This role involves partnering closely with hiring Managers to understand and forecast staffing needs, reviewing hiring requisitions, and assisting in developing strategic sourcing strategies to attract top talent. The HR Advisor is essential in ensuring the organization meets its operational staffing requirements and upholds its commitments, particularly those related to local First Nations communities through the Indigenous Benefit Agreements (IBAs).
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
Full-Cycle Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: - Lead and manage the full-cycle recruitment process for both hourly and staff positions, ensuring a consistent focus on attracting the best quality candidates.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute all stages of the hiring process, including:
- Conducting reviews and updating job descriptions and postings to accurately reflect position requirements.
- Preparing and developing interview guides and appropriate candidate assessments.
- Screening applications, participating in behavioral-based interviews, and managing candidate communication.
- Completing all pre-employment requirements, including comprehensive reference checks and booking pre-employment medical screenings.
- Act as the key point of contact for all candidates throughout the hiring cycle, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
Strategic Partnerships And Compliance
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all hiring Managers to effectively understand and meet their current and future talent needs.
- Collaborate with local First Nations community liaisons to actively support increased First Nations employment and retention, ensuring compliance with our Indigenous Benefit Agreements (IBAs).
- Ensure all recruitment and hiring activities are carried out in full compliance with Federal and Provincial Canadian legislation and Mount Milligan's set policies and procedures.
Administration And Reporting
- Maintain and manage computer-based recruitment systems, including the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring data integrity for job postings, position descriptions, interview profiles, screening criteria, and job offer letters.
- Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly recruitment statistics and reports for HR and Management review.
- Actively stay abreast of hiring best practices, industry trends, and benchmarking to continuously improve recruitment strategies.
Logistics And General HR Support
- Attend site one week during every two-month period.
- Arrange and coordinate site visits for candidates as needed, which includes managing logistics such as flights, ground transportation, hotels, itineraries, and camp accommodations.
- Represent Mount Milligan by attending career fairs and industry events in local communities to build talent pipelines and enhance the employer brand.
- Provide support to the wider Human Resources team with general HR duties as required.
- Actively participate in various safety activities and adhere to all site safety protocols.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, preferably in a remote site, mining, or heavy industry setting.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian employment standards and human rights legislation related to hiring practices.
- Experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment software.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external communities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
