Job Purpose
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Principal Resource Geologist, Modelling and Geostatistics is responsible for providing corporate-level technical leadership in geological modelling and geostatistics across all BMNM assets. The role strengthens in-house capability in Mineral Resource estimation, uncertainty analysis, and risk-based decision-making, supporting Ma’aden’s expanding exploration portfolio and resource development pipeline.
This position reduces reliance on external consultants by internalizing advanced geostatistical methods, including conditional simulation and uncertainty quantification, ensuring that Mineral Resource estimates are robust, consistent, and aligned with business planning needs.
Key Accountabilities
Resource Modelling & Estimation
- Lead and review geological and grade modelling for Mineral Resource estimates across BMNM assets.
- Ensure consistent application of estimation methodologies, domaining strategies, and validation practices.
- Provide technical oversight of consultant- and site-generated resource models.
Geostatistics & Uncertainty Analysis
- Apply advanced geostatistical techniques, including variography, kriging, and conditional simulation.
- Quantify uncertainty and risk associated with Mineral Resource estimates.
- Support decision-making by translating uncertainty into practical guidance for mine planning and project evaluation.
Support to Resource Classification & RPEE
- Work closely with RPEE, structural geology, and QA/QC principals to ensure resource models reflect realistic extraction scenarios.
- Support Mineral Resource classification through robust confidence and risk assessment.
- Contribute to sensitivity analysis and scenario testing for development studies.
Exploration & Resource Development Support
- Support exploration teams by defining drilling strategies that reduce uncertainty and improve model confidence.
- Assist with early-stage resource modelling for new discoveries and growth projects.
- Provide technical input into project evaluations, scoping studies, and long-term planning.
Governance & Standardization
- Define standards, workflows, and best practices for resource modelling and geostatistics across BMNM.
- Ensure all models are auditable, well-documented, and reproducible.
- Support internal reviews, audits, and technical governance processes.
Capability Building
- Mentor resource geologists and geostatisticians across the organization.
- Develop training material and internal guidance on geostatistics, simulation, and uncertainty analysis.
- Build sustainable in-house expertise and reduce long-term dependency on consultants.
