About The Role
We are looking for a Principal Advisor - Digital Engineering - to lead strategy, governance, integration, and delivery of digital engineering across Rio Tinto capital projects. The role champions data-centric engineering and high-quality asset information ready for operational handover.
Reporting to the Manager – Digital Engineering and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will
- Define and oversee Rio Tinto Projects’ digital engineering strategy, standards, governance, and handover requirements
- Lead integration of engineering design tools with enterprise systems and maintain platform reliability
- Drive adoption of digital project delivery workflows, ensuring consistent execution across projects
- Coordinate lifecycle digital engineering activities and translate requirements into project execution plans
- Ensure data and model quality through rules-based design, QA checks, and compliance monitoring
- Promote automation, analytics, and continuous improvement in digital engineering processes
- Engage with internal stakeholders including Project Engineering, Operational Readiness, IS&T, and Operations
- Manage relationships with engineering partners, contractors, and software vendors
About You
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering or related discipline
- 15+ years’ experience in multi‑discipline project delivery including digital engineering delivery roles on major capital industrial projects
- Expertise in intelligent, data‑centric engineering systems and integrations
- Strong knowledge of asset information requirements and handover processes for operational readiness
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management skills
- Advanced communication, technical writing, and problem‑solving abilities
- It would be desirable if you have familiarity with AVEVA Unified Engineering, SmartPlant Foundation, or similar platforms
