The Island Gold Division is one of Alamos Gold’s flagship Canadian operations, supported by technical, financial, and administrative teams based in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. This role provides critical payroll support to the Ontario-based salaried workforce while operating within a collaborative corporate services environment.

Role Overview
As a
Payroll Technician, reporting to the Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing salaried payroll for the Island Gold Division in Ontario. You will serve as a subject-matter resource for salaried payroll matters, support payroll controls and reporting, and ensure payroll processes are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Administration: Review salaried employees’ timesheets, prepare payroll runs, and process payroll corrections, adjustments, and bonus payments.
Employee Payroll Support: Act as a resource for salaried employees and supervisors on payroll-related questions and assist with timesheet completion and payroll inquiries.
Payroll Maintenance: Review and process changes to employee payroll profiles, including group benefit deductions, and issue and amend Records of Employment as required.
Reporting & Controls: Create and prepare payroll reports, support payroll audits, and assist the Paymaster on payroll-related activities.
Operational Coverage: Provide backup coverage for the Payroll Clerk during vacations or absences and perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring To The Table
- College (Cégep) diploma in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
- Experience with UKG Pro payroll systems is considered an asset; SAP knowledge is also an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in a deadline-driven environment.

Working Conditions
- Office-based role requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use.
- Occasional additional hours or work on statutory holidays may be required to meet payroll deadlines.
- Location: Rouyn-Noranda, Québec.
- Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) travel options and alternative schedules may be available for employees not located near Rouyn-Noranda or Dubreuilville.

Salary: $62,250 CAD - $101,950 CAD
