Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Manager, IT Ontario Operations, you will be a part of the Information Technology Team, working within a Global team of professionals, your role is to provide technical expertise for network and voice/radio solutions that span across all Operations Technology networks, satisfy business requirements, and are highly available with special attention on OT and Operational Network requirements. You must have a broad technical base spanning IP network operation, RF fundamentals and monitoring technology and the interconnectivity between them. This individual will also need to have full understanding of wireless RF technologies such as LTE/5G. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Design, implement, and provide escalated support for OT/Operational network infrastructure such as private LTE/5G and various wired industrial Ethernet platforms in collaboration with the Corporate Industrial IT Networking team;
- Project related support for Implementation and support of Industrial Networks Projects for AEM Ontario Operations;
- Keep up to date with developments in Industrial Network technology to advise and guide AEM Ontario strategically to synergize with available options within the AEM group or from various vendors and/or integration partners;
- Perform site surveys and aid in RF design at various mine site networks (Distributed Antennas, Leaky Feeder, other propagation systems);
- Advise and support global IT staff who are engaged in telecommunication system upgrades;
- Good working knowledge of the day-to-day operating environment, available tools, operating techniques, and end-user applications used with wireless technology;
- Presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex network technology and designs to audiences with various technical backgrounds;
- Conduct network test plans, perform testing in labs, and identify technical and operational issues to management;
- Conduct performance-tuning on network hardware/software technology;
- Initiate and implement all projects with inclusion of safe and secure practices;
- Advise local IT staff of outages and problems with the network when required;
- Implement, operate, and support global multi-vendor communications infrastructure;
- Ensure any proposed telecommunication / wireless solution follow in place standards and guidelines interms of networking and cybersecurity;
- Ensure any proposed solution are discussed and shared with the Global Networking Team at Corporate Level;
- Act as escalation support for the AEM Corporate to a globally distributed team of IT professionals, escalating to vendors when necessary;
- Regularly monitor network performance and capacity to ensure equipment and services are functioning and operating at optimal capacity.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in telecommunication engineering & RF or equivalent work experience;
- Excellent technical troubleshooting skills;
- Excellent knowledge in LTE, 5G and 802.11/16 technologie;
- Ability to evaluate technical solutions for scalability and fit into existing environment;
- Able to work in a team environment and also independently with minimal direction, and able to succeed in a rapidly changing environment;
- Great interpersonal skills;
- The ability to prioritize, focus and problem solve in a demanding environment;
- Mining, other extractive industry, or experience in an industrial facility is preferable;
- A general willingness and desire to learn new network technologies;
- Ability to travel regionally in Ontario or possibly to other AEM regions;
- Able to work flexible hours
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday at our Timmins Regional Office or one of our satellite offices in Kirkland Lake, and Sudbury;
- This role is eligible for the Ontario Regional Teleworking Policy
