Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Vice-President, Operational Sustainability, you will be part of the technical corporate team (TCT). You will provide cross functional support to operations as well as future projects development to ensure meeting and exceeding specific and overall performances. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, sustainable, and value‑driven mine plans and operations by balancing strategic oversight with practical operational engagement. You will also provide strategic leadership and technical direction for all corporate mining activities and pursue the development and effective implementation of a vision leading to the next generation of best and innovative mining practices.
- Participate in the various yearly planning cycle activities i.e. ‘Scenario Evaluation Process’ and ‘Budget/LOM Process’, providing technical and financial reviews associated with each operation sites plan and strategy.
- Provide support to the development and implementation of mining strategies that support the organization’s long-term goals and operational mandates.
- Drive technical excellence in mine planning, design, and operational delivery across all sites.
- Provide expert guidance and support to site mining teams, ensuring best practices and knowledge transfer company wide.
- Provide corporate level strategic direction to AEM ‘Standards & Guidelines Framework’ and key areas of focus requiring development.
- Guardian of technical challenges, challenging site and region management, to minimize enterprise exposure.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and promote a strong safety culture throughout mining operations.
- Provide cross functional support to operations as well as future projects development to ensure meeting and exceeding specific and overall performances.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain the organization’s competitive edge.
- Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators, and external partners to achieve operational objectives.
- Monitor team capacity, workload, and organizational health, highlighting gaps and resourcing needs.
- Support succession planning, mentoring, and integration of senior operational expertise into corporate activities.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10 years’ progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in large-scale mine development, production, and reclamation.
- Committed to the highest safety and environmental standards and the application of relevant legislation, codes and company standards.
- Proven track record of effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and drive high performance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Motivated self-starter with good analytical, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.
- Agility with financial concept and calculations such as required by various studies levels.
- Ability to leverage off technical services group expertise.
- Knowledge of French and Spanish language, written and spoken, is considered an asset.
- Project development experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, matrixed corporate environment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from our Corporate Office in Toronto, ON. Availability to travel to the various divisions of the company is required.
