Job Description
The Head of Delivery Operations has responsibility for Finance Delivery Services, covering process delivery support across Order to Cash (O2C), Procure to Pay (P2P), Record to Report (R2R), and Time to Payroll (T2P). The role is accountable for service delivery to the business, process compliance, cost and value outcomes, and the continuous improvement of Finance Delivery Support.
The role ensures Finance Delivery Support operates through diverse, agile, digitally enabled teams with the right skills and mindset to deliver consistently high quality outcomes. The role works in close partnership with Global Process Owners, Central Finance teams, Regional Controllers, Business Partners, and other associated functions to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and the Finance Operating Model.
The role is also accountable for building a sustainable people model, ensuring the right leadership capability, skills, capacity, and engagement are in place to support both current delivery and future growth.
Responsibilities
Service Delivery and Leadership
- Develop and execute the Finance Delivery Support strategy focussed on continuous improvement
- Exceptional Business/value-centric service delivery meeting business needs
- Ensure high performance, reviewing and managing service standards and requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
- Serve as the leader and ambassador for Finance Delivery Support
- Serve as the single point of accountability for the operation of Finance Delivery Support
- Maintain strong business relationships with all stakeholders (internal/external)
- Accountable for budget management, targets, cost optimisation and value realisation across Finance Delivery Support
- Clear authority to make decisions on delivery structure, resourcing, prioritisation and operating model within agreed governance
- Drive transparency of cost‑to‑serve and benefits realisation from transformation initiatives
- Drive harmonization of processes and service delivery
- Drive process efficiency and improvement, including automation and digitisation
- Ensure quality, compliance, and efficiency
- Ownership of KPIs, SLAs and performance reporting
- Establish and own a framework for controls and management of key financial risks.
- Drive alignment to the Finance operating model through onboarding additional activity per the service scope
- Lead change adoption across Finance Delivery Support, ensuring teams are engaged, supported, and equipped through periods of transformation
- Actively manage change impact, communication, and readiness across delivery teams
Process Management
- Drive harmonization of processes and service delivery
- Drive process efficiency and improvement, including automation and digitisation
- Ensure quality, compliance, and efficiency
- Ownership of KPIs, SLAs and performance reporting
- Establish and own a framework for controls and management of key financial risks.
- Drive alignment to the Finance operating model through onboarding additional activity per the service scope
- Lead change adoption across Finance Delivery Support, ensuring teams are engaged, supported, and equipped through periods of transformation
- Actively manage change impact, communication, and readiness across delivery teams
- Accountable for effective use, adoption and continuous improvement of Finance systems and digital tools within delivery teams
- Partner with IT and digital teams to prioritise automation, data quality and process enablement
- Establish and oversee implementation of a BCP for Finance Delivery Support
People Leadership, Capability & Talent
- Own the people strategy for Finance Delivery Support, aligned to the Finance operating model and long‑term transformation roadmap
- Build a strong leadership bench, with clear succession planning
- Establish clear capability expectations and development pathways across all role levels
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement and learning
- Ensure the organisation has the right skills, capacity, and structure to meet current and future service demands
- Actively develop leaders and managers to build high‑performing engaged and resilient teams
- Embed coaching, feedback, and performance management into day‑to‑day leadership behaviours
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- degree qualified in finance related qualification – preferred
- further professional finance body related qualification – preferred
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Significant leadership experience in finance, shared or business services roles in a complex international organisation, managing a cross-cultural team
- Experience of leading through co-operation and partnership across a matrix organisation
- Ability to influence and challenge current thinking through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion
- Proven experience building leadership capability and developing high‑performing teams at scale
- Experience creating and embedding talent, succession, and capability frameworks in a shared services or matrix environment
- Knowledge of finance practices and applicable legislative frameworks
- Process experience across order to cash, procure to pay, time to pay, and record to report
- Awareness of external factors (e.g. regulatory and industry trends), competitors and their impact on success
