Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role

Position Reports To: Exploration Manager
Role Overview
The Geological Technician will work in close collaboration with the Exploration geologists. The role covers a range of duties from geotechnical logging to sample management and field exploration work in remote areas. The candidate shall show a strong work ethic, ability to work as part of a team, and an interest for outdoor work.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical core logging and data entry as described in the Company operating procedure (RQD, core recovery)
- Prepare sample submission, including QA/QC sample insertion, sample packaging and transportation to the site warehouse
- Manage sample submission process, including quality control and shipment tracking
- Coordinate drill pad preparation with the contractor and/or New Gold operation team.
- Assist with weekly environmental and safety drill inspections
- Assist with exploration field activities, including soil sampling, line cutting, mapping, etc.
- Ensure the core cutting and core logging facilities comply with the Company safety standards.
- Other related duties to support the Exploration team as required
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- Grade 12 Diploma or an equivalent or a combination of education and work experience.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions for long periods exposed to the elements.
- Familiarity with GPS device
- G class license is required.
- Experience working in exploration and/or mining environment is an asset
- Previous experience working with sampling, drill core, or RC chip samples is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership in safety.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $70,000.00 - $80,000.00.
