Role Purpose and Context
|
2.1 Role Context
The ABU is set up to provide strategic direction and guidance for Guinea, Geita, Iduapriem and Obuasi Operational and Capital Projects.
- Geita Gold Mine is located in north-western Tanzania, mined in both underground and open pit with a mineral resource of about 7.92 million ounces. GGML started open pit activities at Nyanmulilima in 2021 and Geita Hill underground operations in 2022 with the expectation of maintaining +500koz per year.
- Iduapriem is an open pit mine situated in Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana. The mine has a gravity circuit and cardon in leach plant and with a mineral resource of 6.68 million ounces of gold. The operation is targeting between 250-270koz per year.
- The Obuasi redevelopment project is nearing completion to become a modern efficient processing and underground mechanized operation and is now moving to achieving study state operations by 2023. The operation has the potential to deliver +500koz per year.
- Siguiri Gold mine is in the east-western part of Upper Guinea in the Republic of Guinea. The site is situated in the Siguiri Prefecture which is 127 km from Kankan, 218 km from Bamako (Mali) and 835 km from the capital Conakry. The combination plant conversion project began in 2017 to allow the mine to treat 4.8Mt of hard fresh rock ore and 7.2 Mt of oxide ore. Construction was completed in March 2018 and further optimisation and debottlenecking of the plant continue.
AGA will continue to leverage on technology that delivers efficiencies through use of world class systems that sets the pace for mechanized underground and open pit mining to consistently and sustainably deliver on what we say we will do.

- Hand cleaning
Abrade corroded areas to obtain a degree of cleanliness equivalent to St 2 of ISO 8501-1.
Remove all loose, flaking paint back to a tight edge and feather existing coating to eliminate stepped edges
Lightly abrade sound existing coating to provide a 'key'
Wash down surface with clean potable water to remove all contaminants and allow to dry Ultra High Pressure Water Cleaning
Ultra High-Pressure Water Cleaning may be preferable in areas where contamination by the abrasive blast media is undesirable
APPLICATION
Primer: One complete coat of aluminium filled epoxy mastic; DFT shall be 100 to 200mm
Finish: One complete coat of high build epoxy; DFT shall be 100 to 200mm. The total DFT of the system shall be 200mm to 400mm.
