Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As a
Specialist Financial Reporting you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health are paramount.
- Interpret and communicate financial accounting/reporting policies, standards, procedures, and timetables to stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver ad-hoc, monthly, and quarterly financial reports and submissions.
- Reconcile and finalise statutory reporting (interim and year-end) in line with regulations.
- Ensure compliance of financial transactions and reporting with statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors, to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Consolidate and present financial outlook information for the organisation.
- Reflect significant transactions accurately in financial statements (e.g., acquisitions, disposals, cash flow, net debt, interest).
- Analyse and report critical issues and monthly movements to stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on financial reporting issues and standards through thorough analysis and research.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and organisational budgets.
- Educate stakeholders on financial reporting issues, ensuring correct presentation of significant items (e.g., financing impact of disposals).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external partners to build understanding and alignment.
- Support decision-making by delivering clear, accurate, and timely financial insights.
This role is in the Finance (FIN) discipline at a Band 6 level (D4/ D5 Grade) reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Relevant Finance/ Commercial B- degree (NQF7)
- CA (SA) Registered Professional
- Valid SA Drivers Licence
Experience
- 6-8 years of solid experience in Financial Reporting in the mining industry, of which 5 years must be in consolidations.
- Demonstrated experience in group consolidations for actual results (for month-end, interim and year-end reporting processes) as well as for budget and forecast processes (including related reconciliations and calculations)
- Demonstrated experience environmental rehabilitation provision calculation in line with IFRS and the related analysis
- Demonstrated experience Share-based payment reconciliation and accounting, as well as coordinating and managing the share scheme valuation process
- Demonstrated experience inventory movement reconciliation and calculation of related elimination adjustments.
- Proficient in analysing and benchmarking financial and business data.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve set targets.
- Track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
