About The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a
Student, Project Studies to join the Centerra Corporate team on a fixed-term basis, up to 12-months. This position is a hybrid role based at our
Toronto, ON office.
This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Engineering who are eager to gain practical experience in a large-scale mining project environment. Projects in focus are the Oksut Life of Mine Optimization and the Kemess Pre-Feasibility Study. The successful candidate will provide analytical and project management support for the Project Studies and Technical Services workstreams, and support a range of project engineering, construction, planning, and execution activities while working closely with our multidisciplinary team of project/construction managers, engineers, and contractors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provide analytical and project management support for the Project Studies team by doing the following:
- Support both project teams in making strategic decisions, through analysis, engineering problem solving, and impactful communication.
- Support with financial modelling activities, including the development and evaluation of various trade-offs, optimization decisions and continuous improvement initiatives to improve project value
- Support the development and aggregation of select project reporting, including both reporting that will be internal to the project team.
- Assist with non-standard requests for support and identify solutions to such requests.
- Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and performance monitoring activities.
- Assist with safety and risk reviews, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assists in identifying cost savings opportunities and building full potential cost models.
- Responds to a variety of internal and/or external requests, many of which will not be standard and will require advanced problem-solving approaches.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned exercises across engineering disciplines.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Strong academic standing and eligibility for a formal co-op / internship placement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and eagerness to learn in a project environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
