The Opportunity:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is the central authority for mechanical and structural engineering standards across all Gold Fields Australia assets. In this influential role, you will govern the frameworks that ensure our underground and open-pit equipment operates safely, reliably, and cost-effectively.
While this position has no direct reports, you will act as a critical point of integration—bridging the gap between site-based teams, operational leadership, and technical specialists to embed technical rigour and world-class asset integrity programs across the organisation.

What You’ll Do
- Implement and govern mechanical engineering standards across all assets, ensuring consistent practices that safeguard personnel and equipment while benchmarking against industry best practices.
- Support site teams in identifying critical mechanical equipment and developing robust preventive maintenance and spares strategies to optimise lifecycle costs and minimise downtime.
- Oversee remediation programs for mechanical and structural assets, identifying risks and providing technical input into sustaining capital programs and long-term business plans.
- Act as the regional technical liaison, providing guidance and challenge to site-based teams to ensure standardised engineering practices and foster capability development.
- Monitor the effectiveness of engineering standards and asset integrity programs, leading root cause analysis and implementing data-driven improvements to processes and tools.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within fixed plant mining
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, asset management, maintenance practices, and structural integrity
- Proven experience influencing cross-functional teams and applying engineering rigour across multiple sites
- Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to demonstrate and champion safe work practices across operational teams
