Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. Position Reports To: Training Supervisor.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the role of a Surface Mine Trainer is to ensure that employees receive the knowledge and practical training on Production Equipment, Support Equipment, and Haul Trucks in accordance with the MTCU Modules, OHSA Regulations and company standards.
They will support training requirements for Mine Operations, TMA, Utility, Site Services, Fuel/Lube and Mobile Crusher in accordance with the training plan and progression policy.
In this role you will be required to foster healthy relationships and maintain communications with all stakeholders to co-ordinate, execute and complete the training requirements. The role also requires review and assisting in development of SOP’s, JHA’s and Training Materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that employees are trained to perform their duties using best practices, adhere to mining process requirements, quality, and efficiency.
- Solicits feedback from trainees and perform remedial training as required.
- Verbal and written skills necessary to write lesson plans.
- Deliver one-on-one, small, or large group training.
- Deliver Surface Miner Common Core to new hires.
- Communicate effectively with trainees.
- Ensure that training records are maintained, accurate and signed.
- Support Mining activities and assist in attaining department metrics.
- Provide input on cross-training strategies.
- Follow lesson plans to ensure all trainees are given minimum subject matter as per the MAESD training standards document.
- Mentor experienced employees who are providing additional coaching.
- Assist in development, implementation, and continued application with our Learning Management System (VISTA) program.
- Monitor employees and ensure follow-up training is in accordance with the Progression Plan.
- Work with the Safety team and other departments to establish training procedures to be used throughout the mine site.
- Develop and assist in the implementation of Continuous and Process Improvement ideas.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties.
- Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality.
- Wenco knowledge and experience.
- Operate mine equipment if urgent business need arises.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 3 years’ experience and knowledge of production equipment, support equipment and haul trucks
- TTT Certified.
- Accredited in Surface Miner program 770210.
- Accredited in Generic First Line Supervisor Program 770141
- Accredited in Modules for Production, Support Equipment and Haul Trucks.
- First Aid.
- WHMIS
- MOL Step 5
- Immersive Simulator level 1.
- Vista LMS.
- Proficient computer skills (LMS, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $114,000.00 - $123,000.00.
