Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role
Position: Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice
Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12 hour days and nights
Position Reports To: Mine Maintenance Shift Supervisor
Position Overview
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the role of the Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic, under the direction of a Journeyperson is to provide quality maintenance, repairs and component changes for mining fleet equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair mine equipment
- Maximize equipment availability through efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.
- Perform preventative maintenance such as inspections, lubricating, oil changes and failure analysis.
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions and carryout necessary repairs including major component replacement and repair or rebuild.
- Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies, procedures and requirements.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensure work order discipline requirements within SAP.
- Once completing the apprenticeship program, a person working in this trade is entitled to a Certification of Apprenticeship and can challenge the trade examination to obtain a Certification of Qualification
- On the Job Training Duration (for apprentices) – 6280 Hrs and in School Training Duration – 720 Hrs. – 3 levels of theoretical training – 8 week each level
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma/GED
- Post secondar education in related trade considered an asset
- Valid Drivers’ License
Experience
- 1-2 years experience working in an industrial, milling or mining environment
- 1-2 years experience in trade or related trade
- Mobile maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Acceptable mechanical aptitude as demonstrated through assessment tools
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Good Oral and Written communication skills
- Able to work in a Team Environment
- Demonstrated leadership in safety is essential in this role
- Aptitude for mechanics with the ability to handle heavy machinery
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions
- Ability to think and act decisively
- Accuracy in recording details

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $70,000 and $80,000.
