Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Responsible for leading and integrating all short-term mine planning and technical services functions to support safe, efficient, and optimized underground mining operations. The role ensures mine plans remain aligned with LOM / Medium term plans as well as changing orebody conditions, operational constraints, geotechnical requirements, ventilation demands, and water management challenges. The incumbent drives operational performance through continuous plan optimization, technical governance, reconciliation, and real-time decision-making to maximize production efficiency, minimize dilution and risk, and support sustainable underground mine execution.
You will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related discipline.
- Professional registration with a recognized engineering body preferred.
- Master’s degree in mining engineering or Technical Services-related field
- Minimum 12–15 years underground mining managing multidisciplinary technical teams in high-production underground mining environments. Extensive experience in Short-term mine planning, underground technical services, survey management, Geotechnical engineering, Ventilation engineering, Mine reconciliation and Operational optimization.
- The ideal candidate will have strong experience in highly variable orebody environments, Wet underground mines with significant water inflow, Challenging geotechnical conditions and Mechanized underground mining operations
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.
Technical Skills should include:
- Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, MineRP, Ventilation software (Ventsim or equivalent), CAD platforms, GIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Data analytics and reporting platforms
