The Kipushi Project S.A. is looking for a Senior Superintendent I, Mines (RDC_15_MIN_032).
The Kipushi Project, in the DRC's province of Haut-Katanga and southeast of the company's Kamoa discovery, is adjacent to the town of Kipushi and approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Ivanhoe Mines acquired its 68% interest in the Kipushi Project in November 2011; the balance of 32% is held by the DRC's state-owned mining company, Gécamines.
The Kipushi Project is based on the high-grade, underground zinc-copper mine in the Central African Copperbelt, which mined approximately 60 million tonnes grading 11% zinc and 7% copper between 1924 and 1993. In addition to producing copper and zinc, the mine produced 12,673 tonnes of lead and approximately 278 tonnes of germanium between 1956 and 1978.

To manage and co-ordinate the efforts mining teams to safety and efficiently extract ore to meet targets. This requires the management of direct reports as well as specialists to achieve Meters and Tons targets as per organisational strategy and objectives. The incumbent analyses mining plans and technical documentation to guide mining process and ensures these plans are implemented to HSE and quality standards. Co-ordination and regulation of other Mine Overseer functions and duties. Managing the performance of the Mine Overseers. Exercise authority over both KICO and Contractor Mine Overseers.
You will have the following:
- Mining Degree
- Valid Driver's license
- More than 12 years' relevant mining experience with at leas 5 years as a Shift Supervisor or 5 years as a Mine Overseer
- Excellent track record managing and supervising underground production and civil projects in an African mining environment
You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:
- Underground mining knowledge and experience
- Different mining methodologies including trackless
- Geology knowledge and experience
- SHEQ standards
- Computer skills
- KICO Strategic imperatives
- Program and project management
- Management skills

- Implement effective and efficient production processes, plans and governance structures
- Manage and enable production efforts in the business area/mine
