Purpose of Role:
The Maintenance Manager – Mobile Equipment is responsible for providing leadership, direction, governance, and execution for all mobile equipment maintenance activities supporting the Copper World Project and mining operation to ensure safe, reliable, and productive mining operations.
The role is accountable for fleet reliability, maintenance planning and scheduling, electrical and automation maintenance, autonomous haulage system maintenance support, maintenance readiness, workforce development, asset management, contractor performance, and cost control to ensure safe, reliable, and productive mining operations.
The position supports project development, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, ramp-up, and operational excellence through close collaboration with Mine Operations, Technical Services, Metallurgical & Operational Readiness, Supply Chain, Finance, Information Technology, Equipment OEMs, and Corporate Technical Services.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Leadership & Strategic Management
- Lead all mobile equipment maintenance activities supporting mining operations.
- Provide leadership for maintenance execution, planning, scheduling, reliability, electrical maintenance, instrumentation, automation, and AHS maintenance functions.
- Develop and implement maintenance management systems, standards, procedures, and work management processes.
- Develop workforce capability through recruitment, training, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Manage maintenance operating budgets, contracts, service agreements, and cost control initiatives.
- Partner with Mine Operations to maximize fleet performance, equipment availability, and operating efficiency.
Reliability & Asset Management Strategy
- Establish preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs for all mobile assets.
- Develop fleet lifecycle management strategies and equipment replacement plans.
- Establish reliability-centered maintenance practices and asset health monitoring programs.
- Lead root cause failure analysis investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Planning, Execution & Operational Readiness
- Lead maintenance readiness activities supporting project execution, commissioning, startup, and ramp-up.
- Coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling activities to maximize equipment availability and utilization.
- Establish contractor management processes and coordinate OEM technical support services.
- Support spare parts strategies, warehouse readiness, and inventory optimization initiatives.
- Participate in operational readiness reviews, risk assessments, and business improvement initiatives.
Technology, Systems & Engineering Support
- Support implementation and optimization of SAP PM and maintenance business processes.
- Manage maintenance support for autonomous haulage systems, fleet management systems, and digital technologies.
- Support engineering reviews to ensure maintainability, operability, accessibility, reliability, and safety requirements are incorporated into project designs.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience in mining or heavy industrial operations.
- Minimum 10 years supporting large-scale surface mining operations.
- Minimum 5 years in maintenance leadership positions.
- Experience managing large mobile mining equipment fleets.
Preferred
- Copper mining experience.
- Greenfield project experience.
- Commissioning and startup experience.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Experience supporting autonomous haulage systems.
- Experience with maintenance readiness and operational readiness programs
