Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Coordinator, Open Pit Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Develop, support, and communicate all required reporting and analysis related to Open Pit drilling and blasting, including Monthly Drill and Blast reports, Blast Optimization initiatives, and all relevant KPIs (powder factor, drilling factor, fragmentation, vibration, etc.);
- Lead all open pit drill and blast optimization initiatives and projects;
- Responsible for the annual explosives order and the dispatching of explosives to the various site magazines;
- Develop, control, and archive all drill and blast deliverables;
- Design, review, and approve drilling, blasting, and tie-in connection plans;
- Obtain verification and approval from the Open Pit Production Engineer for all plans supporting the weekly mine plan;
- Own the site Drill and Blast specifications, with responsibility for annual updates and revisions as required;
- Responsible for delivering all D&B legal documentation (DFO annual report, magazine permits, etc.);
- Promote Health and Safety by participating in and leading the monthly departmental H&S meetings.
What You Need To Succeed
- College degree in Mine Engineering/Technology or higher;
- 3+ years’ experience in the mining industry;
- Previous experience in open pit drills and blasts will be highly regarded, particularly in gold mining;
- Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, AutoCAD and mine design/planning software;
- Knowledge of the Deswik and viewshot software is an asset;
- Experience working with seismographs and analyzing seismic data;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
