We are seeking a
qualified and experienced Construction Engineer – Underground Mining to join our team at the
Jwaneng Project. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating underground construction activities to ensure the safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of works.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee underground construction engineering activities, including excavation, support installation, and infrastructure development.
- Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Coordinate and supervise construction teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Monitor project progress against schedules and budgets, implementing corrective measures where required.
- Enforce safety, health, and environmental standards in accordance with Redpath policies and statutory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks associated with underground construction.
- Collaborate with project management, design, and safety teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Prepare detailed progress and technical reports for management and client review.
- Oversee installation and commissioning of underground infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to construction teams, promoting a strong safety and performance culture.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in underground mining construction or project engineering.
- Proven track record in shaft sinking, tunnelling, or underground infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quality control, and project management principles.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in engineering and project planning software will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Botswana mining regulations and standards will be an asset.
