Senior Engineer Package Management

We are looking for a
Senior Engineer Package Management to join our diverse team. This is a key role within the Owner’s team with the responsibility for growing a diverse and capable team to continue the ramp up of block cave production activities.
This role is site-based, with adhoc work from OT’s Ulaanbaatar Monnis office. This is an international FIFO arrangement of 4 weeks ON/2 weeks OFF.
Reporting to Superintendent Engineering Projects, you will be responsible for
- Coordinate construction material fabrication packages with vendors, performing due diligence to ensure packages will be delivered to the required quality, expedited to meet schedule and ensure all vendor data and documentation is supplied.
- Responsible for small Project Packaging team (offshore support contractors, national package engineers and document controllers).
- Transferring knowledge and experience to National Package engineers through coaching and mentoring.
- Support the procurement process through the coordination of engineering requirements for the package including scope writing, technical specification reviews, TQ’s, RFI’s
- Consolidate vendor data review of documents/drawings/procedures/reports.
- Coordinate with QAQC inspector punch listing and rectification works.
- Support document management process, drawing / design reviews
- Weekly / Monthly reporting of package completion status and scheduled delivery dates
- Review/Approval of Vendor Data Deliverables
- Packages close-out including final vendor data deliverables review/approval. Handover packages, warranty and claims.
- The incumbent will be expected to manage multiple packages from time to time and work with different disciplines and departments.
- Produce project reports and presentations for departmental and senior management meetings
What You Will Need For This Role
- 5 - 10+ years’ experience in Project Management (construction, fabrication, engineering, procurement, quality management and engineering documentation).
- Engineering Degree with previous experience in construction of surface and underground mining infrastructure – all Engineering disciplines Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Piping / Electrical / Instrumentation.
- Advantageous qualifications – a postgraduate degree or equivalent in Project Management/Engineering Management/Business Management
- Desirable - Previous experience with the design, fabrication, and construction of; underground ore handling systems, crushing & conveying, structural steel, piping reticulation, instrumentation and control systems, HVAC, fire systems, HV Electrical reticulation, transformers and substations.
- Positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and materials management tools such as SAP.
- Experience working as an Expatriate developing others through coaching and mentoring.

Where you’ll be working
Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit mine with a brownfields underground mining project. The site is located in the Gobi Desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20-year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
