Protection Responsible Engineer

Manage and coordinate all cable protection work included in the project scope of work including interfacing with internal and external equipment owners/coordinators, the Protection responsible engineer reports to the Marine Lead engineer in the project.
General tasks
- Manage and coordinate marine protection work in the project. This may include cable burial, Subsea Rock installation, mattress installation etc.
- Develop project specific procedures. This may include protection procedures, Subsea Rock installation, mattress installation etc.
- Contribute to information sharing between the project, other projects and the Marine Installation Department (not only Dep 799), both during the engineering and installation phase
- Make sure that the protection work in the project is performed in accordance with client and project requirements
- Be a QHSE role model
- Assist Project Marine Lead Engineer to perform the project according to the PEM (project execution model)
Project establishment phase
- SOW: Perform contract review and get an overview of the protection SOW, needed equipment and milestones. Clarify responsibilities
- Cost: give input on protection part of installation budget
- Review project MDR, schedule (focus on engineering, procurement and installation), procurement plan etc.
Project phase
- Take ownership of the protection engineering work in the project
- Develop documents/drawings according to MDR
- Ensure that assessments of the protection requirements are performed, evaluated with feasibility and aligned with contract/client requirements
- Take part in DIC, IDC and document reviews.
- Take part in design reviews and HAZOPs.
- Follow up (together with procurement responsible) protection related subcontracts
- Participate in project meetings (internal, Client, subcontractors etc.)
- Interface and share relevant information towards relevant departments (Marine Equipment and Offshore Support, Marine Operations. Cable technical department)
Project operational phase
- In advance, assist in defining resource needed for the operational phase of the project protection SoW
- Ensure that the marine protection operations work is done in accordance to approved procedures and that potential changes are done using Management of Change systems
- Ensure familiarization of key offshore personnel to take part in the protection work
- See role for "Field Engineer" for work which the engineers normally shall assist with during the marine operations.
Project close-out phase
- Marine as built documentation
- Handover lessons learned, together with Marine Lead Engineer, to the Marine Installation Department after project is finished.
