Job Purpose
To lead and provide expert electrical engineering support during the early phases of project development, including concept studies, pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering reviews. The Lead Engineer, Electrical ensures technical integrity of designs, evaluates vendor documentation, supports project scoping, and ensures alignment with Maaden engineering standards and best practices to enable safe, cost-efficient, and high-quality project execution.
Key Accountabilities
Lead electrical engineering activities across project development stages—from concept design, feasibility studies, and FEED, up to detailed engineering review.
Develop and review electrical design basis, technical specifications, scope of work, and engineering standards for new projects and modifications.
Review and approve vendor documents such as datasheets, technical offers, SLDs, protection schemes, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
Conduct technical evaluations (TBE) for electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
Ensure designs comply with Maaden standards, applicable international codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA), and project-specific requirements.
Perform and review electrical system studies, including short-circuit analysis, load flow, arc-flash, relay coordination, and grounding studies.
Provide technical input to cost estimates, risk assessments, project execution strategies, and schedule development during early project phases.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (Process, Mechanical, C&I, Civil) to ensure design integration and consistency.
Support preparation and review of tender documents, RFQs, and bid evaluations for electrical packages.
Participate in design review sessions, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and ensure closure of action items.
Support FAT/SAT planning, reviewing vendor procedures, and ensuring compliance prior to manufacturing and delivery.
Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers within the project team
Prepare high-quality engineering reports, recommendations, and decision-support documents for project stakeholders
