Your Impact
As the Lead, Accounting – External Reporting, you will ensure Newmont’s financial information is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. You will lead monthly and quarterly close activities, oversee key reporting workstreams, assess complex accounting issues, and support the organization in meeting US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and statutory reporting obligations. Your leadership directly strengthens the integrity of our financial reporting and supports Newmont’s global regulatory and ESG disclosure commitments.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, including analysis, QA/QC, and review of operating results.
- Manage and execute project plans related to new filing, disclosure, or reporting requirements.
- Support coordination between Finance and Sustainability teams on reporting deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, local GAAP, and internal accounting policies.
- Assess and advise on technical accounting issues, SOX controls, and operational reporting matters.
- Lead ESG, government, and statutory reporting workstreams.
- Facilitate internal and external audit activities.
- Provide leadership to your direct report(s), fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements and external reporting processes.
- Experience with US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting (preferred).
- Experience working in publicly traded companies (preferred).
- SAP-BPC and Workiva experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in accounting research, financial reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to evaluate complex accounting issues and apply judgment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines.
Your Work Environment
- You will work in a corporate environment within the Finance function, collaborating closely with SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting, Sustainability, internal audit, and external auditors. The role requires managing deadlines across multiple reporting cycles and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity in all financial disclosures. This is a people-leader role with one direct report.
- This position operates in a hybrid format. Employees are expected to work onsite at our Corporate Headquarters 1 day per week to participate in team meetings, cross-functional collaboration, and in-person business activities. Remaining days may be remote based on business needs

The salary range offered for this role is USD $110,160- 144,585. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
