Key Accountabilities
Minimize port stay, meet customer expectations, and coordinate transshipment activities with commercial teams for incident-free operations.
Conduct targeted inspections (≥4 per week), identify gaps against RightShip standards, follow up on corrective actions, and enforce Rio Tinto HS&E and compliance policies.
Act as first responder for investigations, report and resolve incidents, recommend process improvements, and maintain adherence to company standards.
Plan and manage dedicated assets, evaluate suppliers, collaborate with port authorities, CTG, Simfer, and foster local marine talent development.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders, uphold Rio Tinto vision and values, and guarantee compliance with laws, policies, and operational procedures.
Education and Qualification
Degree in Logistics or Marine preferred, with sea-going certification or experience (Master Mariner Class 1, 2, or 3) highly desirable.
Experience in team management, leadership interaction, and proven ability to manage complex projects successfully.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and at least two of the three operating languages (French, English, Chinese); French proficiency strongly valued.
Strong understanding of port and marine technical/commercial operations (ideally inter-river transshipment), combined with excellent analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with integrity, proactivity, and a collaborative mindset.

About The Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.
Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
