Reporting to the Coordinator – Community Welfare and Sports, you will be responsible for overseeing the Sports Training Officer's performance, ensuring the effective delivery of fitness programs, and supporting the overall goals of the Community Welfare and Sports department.
Your duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the gym instructor to ensure the delivery of safe and effective fitness training programs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor sports development programs and activities for the mine community.
- Coordinate regular sports events, tournaments, and fitness campaigns that promote physical wellness and community participation.
- Maintain and ensure the proper use, maintenance, and safety of sports and gym facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator of Community Welfare and Sports to align sports programs with broader community goals.
- Prepare regular reports on sports activities, participation rates, and gym operations for presentations to management.
- Engage with employees and community members to assess sports and fitness needs and respond with tailored programs.
- Promote inclusive sports participation, ensuring accessibility to diverse groups including youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
- Liaise with external sports organizations and local authorities to foster partnerships and expand sports opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support during sports events to ensure they run smoothly and safely.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety, and organizational policies in all sports-related activities.
- Participate in budgeting and resource planning for sports development initiatives.
To be considered for the position, the applicant must have the following:
- Minimum Diploma or degree in Sports Science, Recreation Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in sports development, gym supervision, or fitness program management.
- Knowledge of community sports development practices and health promotion strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, particularly in supervising fitness professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse community members.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards related to sports and fitness environments.
