Job Purpose
Implement strategies, policies, procedures, and programs for the Exploration & Resource Development (ERD) department to ensure compliance with social standards and stakeholder engagement requirements. Maintain highly effective Social and Community initiatives, including CSR programs and grievance mechanisms, to support ERD projects and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, enhancing ERD’s reputation and social license to operate.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement social programs and procedures to prevent community-related issues and ensure smooth engagement in ERD operational areas.
- Conduct social audits, stakeholder engagement reviews, and risk assessments to identify potential social risks, evaluate impacts, and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support development and implementation of ERD social policies, processes, procedures, and standards aligned with IFC guidelines and other relevant standards, ensuring compliance with all social and community requirements.
- Investigate community grievances and social incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and evaluate social performance metrics, identify trends, and develop action plans to improve stakeholder engagement and social impact management.
- Collaborate with Corporate Affairs, ERD EHSS, and ERD leadership teams to develop, implement, and monitor compliance with social policies and CSR initiatives to achieve ERD social performance targets.
- Review and update social policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international best practices.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, local authorities, and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance with social regulations and commitments.
- Conduct social awareness meetings and communicate social performance and initiatives to employees, contractors, and community representatives.
- Develop and maintain social-related documentation, including stakeholder engagement logs, grievance records, and periodic social performance reports. Contribute to Social Impact Assessments (SIA) and preparation of recurring social reports as required.
Minimum Qualification, Experience And Competencies
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences, Community Development, Sociology, Public Administration, or related field.
- Knowledge of social performance standards, including IFC Performance Standards, CSR principles, and stakeholder engagement best practices.
- Familiarity with Saudi regulatory requirements for social impact, community engagement, and grievance mechanisms, as well as international guidelines.
- Understanding of mining sector social compliance and community relations within KSA context.
- Strong communication skills and cultural awareness to engage effectively with local communities and stakeholders.
Minimum Experience
- 0 to 2 years of experience in the Social / CSR domain, preferably in the Mining industry
- Familiarity with KSA mining, minerals, and exploration sector
