Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Dawson Mine, located near Moura, is only a 2-hour drive from Rockhampton & Gladstone. It is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits - Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland with no signs of slowing down. Dawson Mine is rich in history, it was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963 – join the legacy today!
Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor with a passion for Truck and Shovel Operations whilst maintaining safe production at Dawson Mine.
Reporting through to the Mining Superintendent, you will demonstrate a drive for safety as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills. As an experienced supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and leading a large team of operators to ensure operational production standards are met.
You will effectively plan, monitor and coordinate personnel, equipment and resources to achieve Dawson’s set targets and schedules. This role will be of interest to those who enjoy coaching and mentoring an established crew, interesting investigative challenges and effectively working with other departments on site whilst maintaining strong relationships.
Qualifications
Relevant skills, knowledge and experience required for this role include:
- To be successful in the role, you will have supervisor experience running a large team within an open cut mining operation.
- Demonstrated experience with Truck and Shovel operations and a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Hold the Supervisor & Risk Facilitator competencies (S1, 2, 3 & G2).
- OCE ticket is desirable but not mandatory.
- Trainer & Assessor certification is desirable.
