Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Operation Project Manager, you will be part of the Environmental Department. You will organize, prepare, and manage the required documentation to ensure good environmental practices are being followed for the team in terms of site inspections, water monitoring, spills, waste, wildlife management and as well as new environmental projects. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Efficient operation of the department through supervision of the environmental supervisor and technicians, and the management of consultants for environmental programs and reporting;
- Lead or assist with site inspections with regulators and communicate with inspectors/regulators/officers as required;
- Ensure compliance with regulations/permits/plans, following-up on actions for non-conformities;
- Provide guidance to underground and surface operations to ensure environmental obligations are met;
- Ensure the production of weekly/monthly reports and participate on annual report preparations, and reviews;
- Be the single point of contact for water management matters to ensure studies, engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up of water management systems are aligned in terms of quality and schedule with our License to Operate;
- Ensure liaisons with other departments (mainly for water and tailings management, mine development, construction, water quality forecast, annual report);
- Ensure liaison with communication/community relations groups;
- Lead by example by applying the best leadership and environmental-oriented practices;
- Participate in risk management evaluations;
- Assist in budget development and control (variance, forecasts);
- Assist with the permitting process.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences/Environmental Management/Biology/Chemistry/Hydrology or any other relevant field;
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with supervisory experience being a must;
- A background in hydrology, hydrogeology, mine water treatment would be considered an asset;
- Mining project experience would be considered an asset;
- Adaptability and autonomy competencies;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
